20121030 Winamp ver 5.623 insists on reading music track metadata, then altering the playlist trackname to reflect the metadata. But I want the playlist to only ever display the original track filenames, as stored on disk. They are all in form 'nn - songname' and I want Winamp to never display anything else. The Winamp General Preferences -> Titles : Metadata Reading section heading says: "Winamp can read extended metadata for titles. Choose when Winamp should query this data:" The "can" is true but misleading. As the available options are now, it should say "will, even if you don't want it to." There four options provided: * Read metadata when file(s) are loaded into Winamp. * Read metadata when file(s) are played or viewed in the playlist editor. * Read metadata only when file(s) are played. * Read metadata in the background when file(s) are loaded into Winamp or are played or viewed in the playlist editor. What's needed is one more option: * NEVER read the damned metadata. Never alter the displayed filename. Other suggestions: 1. In General Preferences there should be an option: * Winamp must NEVER access the internet under any circumstances. See image: winamp_metadata_complaint.jpg
