Australia therefore will only operate the standard F-35A variant, of which 72 are on order and two are currently used for training in the United States. 20160218 http://www.defenseone.com/technology/2016/02/f-35s-terrifying-bug-list/125638/?oref=d-dontmiss The F-35’s Terrifying Bug List The Pentagon’s top testing official has weighed and measured the F-35 and found it wanting. Technology The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter programs the most expensive military program in the world, is even more broken than previously thought. The jet can’t tell old parts from new ones, randomly prevents user logins into the logistics information system, and trying to eject out of it will likely result in serious neck injury and maybe death. A Pentagon office is warning that the plane is being rushed into service. The Pentagon’s office of testing and evaluation on Monday released a report detailing major problems, or “deficiencies” with the aircraft. The report follows the release of a December memo by Michael Gilmore, the Department of Defense’s director for Operational Test and Evaluation, or OT&E. The report goes on to question the logic of pushing other governments to purchase large blocks of the aircraft until the issues are fixed. WRH: Our military is absolutely doomed, if they have to go into battle (particularly against the Russians or Chinese) with crud like this, (pardon my French). I hate and loathe war, because in my world, there is always a way to resolve geopolitical differences other than a military conflict scenario; but if war is going to happen, I want our men and women in uniform to have the absolutely best equipment possible. In every contract for every piece of aircraft and weaponry the US military buys, including items manufactured by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics (which manufactures this POC), there should be a clause which stipulates that not having whatever they are selling completely operational, delivered on time and within budget as a crime punishable by the fullest extent of the law, and that the chief executives who do not do that and are found guilty by a jury of their peers, serve hard jail time. This, I think, would "cure the problem", and I frankly think every man and women in uniform for the United States deserves this. Unfortunately, you have the "when pigs fly" factor here, because politicians get rewarded handsomely for supporting various elements n the military/industrial complex by awarding contracts to them. 20160807 http://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/f-35-at-farnborough-airshow/msg999496/#msg999496 My comment: Google F-35 turkey Start with 1/6 F-35 JOINT STRIKE FIGHTER IS A LEMON Military expert Pierre Sprey, the founder and designer of the F-16 & A-10 Warthog airplanes, explains why the f-35 will not cut it on the modern battlefield. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQB4W8C0rZI&list=PL5HHhz3qoOS-56GRZLp1Z7Y8UmD1vhdzx /watch?v=g4doIA3T9ps The F-35 Is an Airplane Build For a Dumb Idea /watch?v=idVY2KumIcA F-35 stealth fighter jet 'one of worst planes we've ever designed' /watch?v=5zKaWc_43UI F-35 fighter jet beaten by F-16 from 1970s /watch?v=Z_vXqtCkVy8 RUSSIAN RADAR CAN NOW SEE F-22 AND F-35 Says top US Aircraft designer Personally I think it's great that the US military system has fallen so far into corrupt incompetence. Every war the US ever started was begun with a lie, and it's just been getting worse and worse. Time they received a damned good thrashing. Which is exactly what they are going to get, if the US people don't get a grip on their government and arrest and gaol all the warmongering psychopaths. The F-35 is also a useful measure of the Australian government's corruption and insanity. So long as our government still has even one F-35 on order, we can know they should all be shot for treason; for betrayal of the nation. Meanwhile look up TAFE chaos. We can't even run our crucial education systems properly, but we can afford these obscenely expensive utter lemons? Which will make us sitting ducks for regional military forces with enough sense to build or buy functional planes, or more practical missile systems. Nuts. I hope you realize that in any _serious_ war (which will be the US and any NATO nit-wits stupid enough to go along with the US, vs Russia, China, and practically the entire rest of the world) will _immediately_ go nuclear. Because it will be started by the USA, and Russia makes no secret that they will use nukes to defend their land, and China and Russia now have a mutual defense pact. There will also be a lot of things that never saw hot combat before. The large range of supersonic very smart anti-ship missiles for one, that all sane analysts (and US wargaming) know will eliminate virtually all NATO surface naval forces within the first few hours of conflict. All on the Russian, Chinese and Indian side it seems. Sunburn, Yakhont, Brahmos... Russia licensed the technology to India, set up a factory there, and so now they are commonly available to all non-NATO navies. There was an Indonesian navy ship docked in Sydney some years ago, with rows of them along the sides when I walked past in in Garden Island. There are also submarine smart drone nuclear weapons, so there go major coastal cities. Also tsunami-building phased deep ocean nukes, for wiping out coastal areas in a completely unstoppable way. Everyone who thinks the next war is going to be glamorous and heroic, is in for a rude shock. Or an unpleasantly messy death more likely. If you _do_ survive the initial conflict, you'll get to see the radioactive death of the entire biosphere and human civilization, as all the nuclear power plants and radioactive waste stores that were damaged in the war leak their nuclear poisons beyond any hope of control. Do you even understand the word 'epigenetics', or know what a knife edge between cumulative genetic errors and error correction by fitness/survival, our entire living planet rests on? There's a reason why life didn't begin on Earth until the background radiation of the original star-formed materials had died way, way down. Billions of years that took. So go ahead, have a nuclear war and wreck all the nuke plants, lets do _that_ all over again. Why does it have to be me that posts this stuff? Are the rest of you so completely media brainwashed that these things have never occurred to you? Those of you drooling over shiny military hardware, why don't you watch something more mature? Here: /watch?v=s86-Z-CbaHA The Banach–Tarski Paradox The stupidity of military weaponry is an uncountable infinity. ---------------------------------------- http://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/f-35-at-farnborough-airshow/msg999499/#msg999499 Oh, and it's beautifully ironic, that one of the countries supposed to be manufacturing F-35 parts (engines I seem to recall) is Turkey. Which, now that Erdogan figured out it was the USA who sponsored the recent coup attempt that nearly killed him, is walking away from the USA. The Russians don't like Edogan at all either. But they are pragmatists. ----------------------------------------- 20160818 http://sputniknews.com/us/20160817/1044373581/f-35-green-glow.html 'Green Glow' Helmet Issue Is Blinding F-35 Pilots During Landing The $400,000 helmet for the beleaguered US fifth-generation F-35 fighter jet uses state-of-the-art technology to provide a heads-up display in the visor -- but also blinds pilots during landing. 20160827 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-3759036/The-400bn-F-35-not-path-success-Damning-test-report-warns-fighter-jet-running-time-money.html The $400bn F-35 is 'not on a path to success': Damning test report warns fighter jet is 'running out of time and money' Fifth-generation fighter has been plagued with issues $400bnbn development schedule has stretched to 15 years Weeks ago military bosses claimed it was finally 'combat ready' 20160903 http://russia-insider.com/en/why-f-35-could-never-million-years-beat-russian-su-35-dogfight/ri16228 20160921 http://www.pogo.org/straus/issues/weapons/2016/f-35-may-never-be-ready-for-combat.html F-35 May Never Be Ready for Combat The Pentagon’s top testing office warns that the F-35 is in no way ready for combat since it is “not effective and not suitable across the required mission areas and against currently fielded threats.” (Emphasis added) As it stands now, the F-35 would need to run away from combat and have other planes come to its rescue, since it “will need support to locate and avoid modern threats, acquire targets, and engage formations of enemy fighter aircraft due to outstanding performance deficiencies and limited weapons carriage available (i.e., two bombs and two air-to-air missiles).” In several instances, the memo rated the F-35A less capable than the aircraft we already have. The memo from the Director, Operational Test & Evaluation makes very clear that the constant stream of positive pronouncements made by the Joint Program Office and Air Force generals have been false. http://www.f-16.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6301 20160926 https://www.rt.com/usa/360510-f35-jet-catches-fire/ Cracks in the armor?
